We work with others to create the campaigns they want, bringing together the resources of broad-based coalitions of stakeholders and sectors.
The Speak Your Mind campaign launched at the World Health Assembly in May 2019, and will continue until at least the end of 2021. The vision for the campaign is shared by the global mental health community: Mental Health For All - toward a world where everyone, everywhere has someone to turn to when their mental health needs support.
The Speak Your Mind Campaign aims to catalyse government action on mental health to improve the accessibility and quality of mental health services nationally and globally. It will achieve this by raising the voice of people with lived experience in decision making, and increasing political and financial support in mental health nationally and internationally.
In more than 15 countries, campaigners with lived experience of mental ill health are urging the public to ‘Speak Your Mind’ so that their leaders commit to the individual demands of each country. The countries currently participating in the campaign include:
Argentina, Australia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Nepal, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tonga, United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland), New Zealand, The United States.
Campaign teams from these founding countries joined together in South Africa in January 2019 to develop and plan the campaign, joined by a number of global partners.
